The artist talk begins at 2:30pm and is one of multiple happenings scheduled for the larger Community Day event. The work inside the museum will remain on display until February 11th, 2024. The latest piece from the Memory series, Memory XVIII, is finished and is 36in X 24in unframed.
Like all works in this series, it was created by spraying acrylic paint through found vintage and antique crochet doilies. After applying the paint, I then stitched through and crocheted on top of the paper with found fiber. The original is currently scheduled to be included a solo show that opens at the end of October but print options are now available at Society 6 and Redbubble. Recursive and a new work titled Barn Doily are now installed on the lawn and the front of the Dubuque Museum of Art building. These two works are on view ahead of Distorted Recollections: Paper, Paint, and Fiber Works, an exhibition of the Memory series that will open October 28th, 2023 and run until February 11th, 2024.
Barn Doily is a 4ft X 4ft acrylic painting on wood created using the same process as Stain 36.
