Recursive and a new work titled Barn Doily are now installed on the lawn and the front of the Dubuque Museum of Art building. These two works are on view ahead of Distorted Recollections: Paper, Paint, and Fiber Works, an exhibition of the Memory series that will open October 28th, 2023 and run until February 11th, 2024.
Barn Doily is a 4ft X 4ft acrylic painting on wood created using the same process as Stain 36.
The latest piece from the Memory series, Memory XVII, is done. This work incorporated some of most unusual shapes I have filled with crochet stitches so far. It's 24in X 18in unframed and was created by spraying acrylic paint through found vintage and antique crochet doilies. After applying the paint, I then stitched through and crocheted on top of the paper with found fiber. The original is currently scheduled to be included a solo show that opens at the end of October but print options are now available at Society 6 and Redbubble.
Stain 32 and Memory XII are included in The Drift, opening at Rountree Gallery today.
This annual group exhibit features artwork by artists working within 100 miles of Platteville, WI. The artist reception is tomorrow, March 3, 2023 from 4-7 and the show runs until April 22, 2023. |
