First artwork of 2025!
The latest piece from the Memory series, Memory XXII is 24in X 18in unframed. Like all works in this series, it was created by spraying acrylic paint through found vintage and antique crochet doilies. After applying the paint, I then stitched through and crocheted on top of the paper with found fiber. While I've been working on this series for a few years now, the visible needle stitches in this piece are unusually more delicate and small compared to the way I've typically handled them in the past. I use the same materials and processes for these works, however each one still elicits different and adapting responses from me as I engage with each separate composition. Two works first included in last year's Doily Divergency show at Green Lantern Gallery,
Study X Vignette 4 and Study X Vignette 7 will be on display at Rountree Gallery as part of the gallery's annual spring show, The Drift. A group exhibition showcasing artists who reside within 100 miles of Platteville, Wisconsin, 37 participating artists working in a variety of mediums are included in this exhibit highlighting the depth and diversity of artistic talent in the region. The show opens tomorrow, March 6th and runs until April 19, 2025. The artist reception is this Friday, March 7 from 4-7pm. Both pieces are from the work Study X Vignettes 1-9 and were made by sifting enamel through antique and vintage doilies onto copper and fired in a kiln after each layer of color was applied. Each of the nine pieces were then 'prong set' into a wood frame. A work first included in this summer's past show at Green Lantern Gallery, Study XI Vignette 4 is currently on display at Rountree Gallery in Platteville, Wisconsin as part of the gallery's annual Teeny Tiny BOLD show. All works in the show are 12 inches in any dimension or smaller and features over 30 local and national artists. The artist reception for the show is Friday, December 13th from 4pm-7pm and will run until January 11th, 2025.
